Promoting a New Business

Posted by Chris Bird on Thursday, September 30, 2010, In : Interesting Websites
I want to take this opportunity to promote a new venture that some of my friends from the online mathematics & robotics communities have started, and which I am proud to be associated with. Their company is called Lonrach Research & Technology, and they are trying to build connections between academics like myself and the business community by helping recent graduates in the sciences and technology fields find short-term consulting and sub-contractor work with industry and government departme...

Finally a Holiday

Posted by Chris Bird on Wednesday, September 22, 2010,
Forgive my bad typing in this entry. I am in a remote location with no wifi only cell and typing by candle. I am on vacation!

All summer I got delayed from holidays. Now I have some time, so I drove to my refuge on the island and will stay a few days. I am shocked and awed that I get cell reception here and can tweet and blog. (There is nothing else to do after sunset with no computers or TVs)

I'm paintin' flowers he said
She said... It's not the time for art young man
And anyway flowers are green and red
There's a time for everything young man
And a way it should be done
You've...

Where did the summer go? It seems like it just got started, and suddenly it is over.

To all the students starting University, enjoy this time of your life. Long ago when I started, a prof told me that this is the start of your real education. Now you get to choose your own courses and your own field of study. It is entirely up to you to decide what to do with this chance.

I know from my own experience that the first days of University can be terrifying and exciting at the same time. But remem...
