To be fair, this comet isn't so much from the stone age itself, but that is the last time it was visible from the Earth.

For those of you who haven't been following this news story, there is currently a bright green comet passing through the inner solar system, and with any luck (and a bit of nice weather) will soon become visible to the naked eye.

Of course there are many comets passing by our solar system every year, but the the reason that comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is in the news is that it is making its first trip near Earth since the Stone Age. The last time that it was seen was believed to be 50,000 years ago, and is not expected to return for several more millenia once it has gone. The comet made its closest approach to the sun on Jan. 12 and will make its closest approach to Earth on Feb. 2.

So if the skies are clear and the weather is decent, take a trip to a dark area and look up at the this beautiful visitor. And if the skies are cloudy and pouring rain or snow, there are thousands of photographs taken by amateur and professional astrophotographers alike already online.

Either way, let us take a moment to appreciate this once in an eon visitor from deep space.
