November 24, 2016 - Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends and family! (Even if you are six weeks late...)

November 13, 2016 - Tonight the moon will be closer and larger than it has been since 1948, resulting in a rare supermoon event. Those with nice weather and clear skies should take a moment to look at it, because it won't happen again for another eighteen years.

November 11, 2016 - Remembrance DayLet us each take a moment out of our busy schedules to remember all of those who sacrificed to protect our freedoms. Lest we forget...

November 9, 2016 - With so many intelligent and caring people in a country, how did it come to this :(

October 31, 2016 - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

October 20, 2016 - A reminder that this week marks the return of the Orionid meteor showers, with the peak display being tomorrow morning just before dawn. Unfortunately I will be located under a thick cloud cover all day, but hopefully some of you will be able to enjoy the show!

October 13, 2016 - For those of you who have always dreamed of studying gravitational waves, there is good news. The galaxyzoo team have released the GravitySpy project, in which users can help to analyze data from the LIGO experiment and aid in this great experiment. Details can be found here.

October 10, 2016 - Happy Thanksgiving Canada!! We live in one of the greatest countries in the world, in one of the best eras in history, and many will be celebrating this day with their loved ones (or if all else fails, their families). We truly have much to be thankful for today, and it is always worth taking the time to remind ourselves of that fact. Enjoy the holidays everyone!

September 30,2016 - The ongoing drama that was the Rosetta mission is about to come to an end today. After flying to comet Chury 67P, deploying a lander that bounced off again and died, then having it come back to life but only for a short time, and finally sending back some interesting new data on comets, the mission has come to an end. As a final experiment, today the mission control will direct the Rosetta orbiter to crash itself into the comet so they can see what flies out of the impact. A fitting end for an exciting mission!

September 20, 2016 - Apparently someone has cloned my website to a new domain ending in .xyz. This is not my website, and at this point I can only speculate as to why someone would clone my website. Please do not visit it, as it is most likely fraudulent.

September 16, 2016 - A reminder to everyone that there will be a webcast of a lecture by Kip Thorne today on the subject of gravitational waves. It is often that you get to see a lecture by a recognized leader in gravitational theory and a pioneer in gravitational wave experiments. It is worth watching if you have the opportunity, and can be streamed live here.

September 9, 2016 - Unfortunately I once again have reason to believe that some of my mail has been 'misdirected' (or in other words, stolen from my mailbox), and so if anyone has sent me anything important it would be a good idea to confirm with me that I received it.
