March 12, 2009 - I just received a fourth invitation to market my photos professionally. Maybe I have a future in photography?

February 2,2009 - I just received my acceptance to work with an online tutoring company this term, and help students with physics and mathematics lessons. It looks like I may be called on for some chemistry tutoring as well, so I hope I can remember that far back :)

January 24, 2009 - While I was looking at the latest DVD-writers, I found this article online about the next-next-generation discs. Apparently the companies have been pushing for more layers, and now Pioneer is apparently demonstrating a 400GB disc (and plans for a 500GB or even 1TB disc). For camparison, a standard DVD is only 5GB and a single layer Blu-ray is 25GB. Imagine having 100 movies per disc...

January 20, 2009 - I have posted my dissertation on my website now. It can be found on my publications page.

January 10, 2009 - I just received the bound copies of my dissertation, and given them a place of honour on my bookshelf...

January 7, 2009 - I am trying out a new microcontroller on my primary robot, a Freeduino board based on the open source Arduino and using an Atmel chipset. My initial impression is that it is a really powerful and versatile board, considering that the parts can be acquired for under $30!

January 5, 2009 - For the first time in 25 years, I am starting the New Year not as a student. I think I will take a few weeks to enjoy it and relax.

December 25, 2008 - MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

December 24, 2008 - No doubt now - it is going to be a white Christmas. I think this is the first one we have had in over a decade.

December 20, 2008 - I just finished drafting two final papers for publication, based on the research in my doctoral dissertation, and hope to submit them for publication very soon.

December 12, 2008 - Now that I have completed my final dissertation and defended it, I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone in the department who helped me get to this point, including all the staff, faculty, and of course my advisor...

December 9, 2008 - For those who are interested, I have posted the notes from my defence on my presentations page.

December 5, 2008 - I just delivered my completed dissertation and paperwork to the university for inclusion in the library. That is my final paperwork to earn my degree.

November 24, 2008 - It's official now. This morning I successfully defended my doctoral dissertation, and will be receiving my PhD in the spring.
