May 1, 2007 - I am off to my father's funeral now.

April 23, 2007 - After a month of illness and nine years of disability, my father has passed away yesterday morning at 9:00am. I will be away for the rest of the week planning the funeral and estate matters.

April 14, 2007 - I just finished talking with my father's doctors this afternoon. It looks like he has cancer, but the doctor's feel it is completely curable, so that it is fully curable, and that he should be back home in a few weeks.

April 15, 2007 - I have finished writing my dissertation, and I am planning to defend it this summer if everything goes well.

April 9, 2007 - The physics department is finally going to get a third new theorist on the faculty, and today the first of four candidates will be arriving on campus. Tomorrow he should be giving a seminar on symmetry and effective field theories. I would encourage all of my fellow graduate students to attend, and to voice opinions on who should be hired.

April 1, 2007 - My father has been rushed to hospital again with more blackouts. Hopefully this time they can find the cause...

March 8, 2007 - My paper on the suppression of Lithium-7 abundances in the early universe using catalyzed fusion has been submitted to the arXiv today. Now it just needs to await publishing. It can be viewed for free at this link.

March 7, 2007 -  There was a very interesting lecture on campus today on Magnetoencepalopathy (try that one in Scrabble). It is a new process in which magnetic fields in the brain can be mapped to study medical problems. It was such an interesting lecture that once again I wonder if I should have been training in medical physics instead of high energy physics...

February 27, 2007 - Since the fates decided I don't have enough work to do, the roof on my parent's house is leaking after the winter storms so now I need to get that fixed.

February 3, 2007 - All the calculations for my doctorate are completed now and I just need to finalize the text.

January 24, 2007 - Just a reminder to all my fellow graduate students, that there is a lecture on CBBN this afternoon. This is a project that my advisor and I have done a lot of work on, and this should be an interesting seminar.

January 18, 2007 - More shameless self-promotion: apparently someone liked my work on light dark matter, because this short article/biography got printed in one of the online science news journals. I scanned a copy on my other site . They did ask me some email questions when writing it, but I personally think the article should have had more details on my research.

January 12, 2007 - I am not a twenty-something anymore :(  (but at least I got some neat stuff to celebrate the end of that decade :) )

January 4, 2007 - For the second year in a row, I have been asked to be a teaching assistant for the third year quantum mechanics course. It is always a lot of work, but it is always an interesting subject.

December 21, 2006 - I probably should keep working on my dissertation or my research projects, but I shall be a rebel and take a couple of days off for Christmas :)

November 3, 2006 - Just a reminder that at 7:30 tonight there will be a public lecture by John Ellis on the big bang and other models, in the David Lam building on campus. Dr. Ellis is a well known researcher and is a good speaker, so I would encourage anyone who is even slightly interested in physics and the Universe to attend tonight.
