January 20, 2013 - The OUYA development kit has finally been released and can be downloaded here. (Technically it was released a while ago, but I have been busy :) ) For those who haven't heard of the OUYA project, it is a complete video game console system who development was funded by micro-loans and investments through Kickstarter. When it is released the hardware will cost $99 and all video games will be free (or at least have a free trial).
January 17, 2013 - Thank you to all of the donors who have helped me to reach my goal of microfunding a new long distance communication system design for the NOMAD project. I will now order the necessary parts to begin building a prototype, and hopefully by mid-2014 I can release the upgraded designs into the open source universe.

December 18, 2012 - For those who are interested in the extremes of open source hardware, the Exceptionally Hard & Soft Meeting will be held on December 28 - 30, 2012 in Berlin this year. It is a meeting for people who do hardcore making, and the keynote speaker will be a teenager who built his own nuclear fusion reactor. If you can't make it to Berlin over the holidays, the lectures will be streamed here.
November 30, 2012 - Interesting result from the NASA MESSENGER probe today - it has found frozen ice and organic materials on the planet Mercury. Considering that Mercury has average temperatures in the hundreds of degrees, finding either is quite an important result!
