October 31, 2024 - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
October 24, 2024 - With the arrival of Halloween next week, I have once again had inquiries into my pumpkin artwork and photography. For those who are interested, two great sources of patterns and templates are
PumpkinGlow and
Zombie Pumpkins. I have had a lot of success in past years with their designs (interested viewers can see my own artwork from
2001-2005,2005-2011,
2012-2018, and
2019 - 2024. Some of these are based on Zombie designs, while others are my own original designs).
October 15, 2025 - I have had a few people inquiring again this year as to whether I will be doing a Halloween rendering, as I had been doing each year until last. Once again, I really enjoy doing these projects, but the reality is that generative AI is so much faster and capable of producing (arguably) better results than I ever could. And so just as I did last year at this time, I have chosen to focus on other interests and activities for now and will leave the 3D artwork for the neural networks to generate instead.
October 13, 2025 - Happy Thanksgiving Canada!! We live in one of the greatest countries in the world, in one of the best eras in history, and many will be celebrating this day with their loved ones (or if all else fails, their families). We truly have much to be thankful for today, and it is always worth taking the time to remind ourselves of that fact. Enjoy the holidays everyone!
October 7, 2025 - Congratulations to John Clarke, Michel Devoret, and John Martinis for being awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics. I recall reading their papers on the use of quantum tunneling and related phenomenology when I work in quantum computing research, and it is indeed a worth topic for a Nobel Prize. With the rise of quantum computing over the past few years, and the expected growth in the next few years as well, it truly is a timely and deserving choice this year.
